Free memory check

A 5-minute memory & thinking check

Noticed more forgetfulness lately - in yourself or a parent? Answer a few questions and try a short word test. You’ll get a clear, honest summary and practical next steps from our geriatrics team.

Sudden confusion is an emergency. If confusion, drowsiness or weakness came on over hours or days, don’t use this check - call +234 704 770 4969. We admit 24 hours a day.
1 Who is this check for?

Private: your answers stay on this device. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to book.

2 Compared with a few years ago, have you noticed…

Only count changes - not things that have always been true.

  1. Repeating the same questions or stories, without realising
  2. Forgetting recent conversations, events or appointments
  3. Putting things down in unusual places and not finding them
  4. Trouble managing money, bills or shopping change
  5. Difficulty learning a new phone, TV remote or gadget
  6. Getting lost or confused in familiar places
  7. Struggling to find everyday words or recall familiar names
  8. Losing track of conversations, TV programmes or a book
  9. Forgetting to take medicines, or taking them twice
  10. Less interest in usual activities, or changes in mood or personality
Did any of these changes start suddenly (over days or weeks), or come with a fall, head injury, fever or new drowsiness?
3 Short word test (about 2 minutes)

Find a quiet moment. Don’t write anything down.

You’ll see 5 words for 20 seconds. Read them aloud and try to remember them.

This is a screening check, not a diagnosis. Many causes of memory change - low B12 or thyroid, medicines, hearing loss, poor sleep, low mood - are treatable.
